Role(s): Usability consultation, graphic design, HTML/CSS, ad hoc testing
Status: alpha testing in production (may be occasionally down for maintenance)

When a friend came to me, he had already coded the bulk of his application, based on the media-wiki platform. What he needed was interface design to make the site appealing to his audience of fellow musicians and others who appreciate jam sessions. Above all, it needed to be simple to use and to encourage participation.

One of the first things I did was to design a logo around my brush drawing of a saxophone. I designed a simple, eye-pleasing interface. Using wiki markup, which I had never worked with before, I modified the existing pages to simplify and arrange the layout for optimal usability. I edited the css style sheets provided to me to implement the visual design.
