Purple Mountain Guide
Role(s): Information architecture, interaction design, coding
Status: offline
Accompanying the Purple Mountain Press newspaper for children, Purple Mountain Guide gave teachers lesson plan materials based on articles children read in the newspaper. The bulk of the content existed only on the web; with each issue of the newspaper teachers received a pamphlet highlighting specific lesson plans and directing them to the web site.
Besides full access to a searchable database of lesson plans, Purple Mountain for Teachers offered a discussion forum and sections for news and editorials by guest writers, usually educators themselves.
The Purple Mountain Guide portion of the site took full advantage of the database. Alongside the currently selected lesson plan, we displayed links to related lesson plan materials, providing teachers the serendipity of exploration.
