Role(s): Information architecture, interaction design, coding
From December 2000 to June 2002, Purple Mountain Media Company produced an educational newspaper for children. Originally the company contracted with a separate web development firm to display on-line content. I joined the company in March 2001 as part of an initiative to bring all web development in-house, enabling greater creative control and faster updating.
While we intended to develop the web site into a unique product offering in the future, the immediate need was to design an appealing and usable web site and convert all legacy content into web pages. The project was coded with ASP, accessing a SQL database. Besides architecting the site structure, specifying interaction and coding HTML, I also did direct database entry.
